For fans of the Redemption Redemption (Redemption Series) series, you'll love this story centered around Conor (and featuring a few of your other favorite characters). But, even if you've not read RK Ryals, you'll still fall for The Acropolis. The Acropolis is a refreshing story of good guy hero Conor Reinhardt and his fragile but fiesty charge, Emma Chase. As a gargoyle (yes, gargoyle/protector/guardian - this guy rocks *side note-completely unintentional pun, so it stays). Aaannyway, as a gargoyle, Conor is assigned to escort Emma to a special school, the Acropolis. You might have guessed, he isn't supposed to fall for her. And, you might have guessed that he does. The rest, I'm pretty sure you won't see coming. Lines get blurred, good things happen. I was alternately giddy, emotional, and squeeing through the final half. And hats off to the author for excellent shirtless humor. This is a great story, clean enough for YA and satisfying enough for the rest of us ;)
I can't wait for the rest of the series!

The Acropolis Acropolis Series Book 1 edition by RK Ryals Eden Crane Design Melanie Bruce Children eBooks Reviews
I love you R. K. Ryals!! I love that The Acroplois is a spin off of The Redemption Series. I am so addicted to the characters you have created. It is so nice to see more of Conor. I love his protective nature and the fact that he always seems to make me laugh. I found myself pulled right in and couldn't put this book down. Besides Conor, I also love his cousin Will. Together they are absolutely hillarious. Add in Emma who seems to be afraid of everything and Deidra who is a little jokester and you couldn't ask for a better story. I love the Drex too!
Conor (an awesome gargoyle) has been demoted after breaking the rules. He has been given the new assignment of escorting Emma Chase to the Acropolis. He never expected to care what happens to his mark, but when he meets Emma he begins to second guess everything he has always believed.
Emma has always been afraid of pretty much everything, been taken to hospitals and doctors to find out what is wrong with her and lived quite a sheltered life with her mom. When she goes a bit crazy on a doctor, Conor is there to escort her to a new safe place. Emma isn't sure if she trusts him but what choice does she have?
I have never read a book containing gargoyles before, but R.K. Ryals has really created a story with so much imagination and style that I am now a gargoyle lover for sure! I highly recommend The Acropolis, but suggest that you read Redemption first. It will make the story that much better! 1000 stars!!!
In fact, I have never met anyone who didn't like Gargoyles. - Keith David
Conor Reinhardt is a gargoyle who has been demoted for breaking the rules. he is given a new assignment and a new mark to protect. Conor, though, is not expecting it to be Emma Chase. keeping in mind the protection of mankind, Conor must comply at all cost and bring Emma to a school called The Acropolis.
author R.K. Ryals' first book in the Acropolis series was an unexpected surprise for me and it was a very pleasant one.
she introduces the reader to a world of gargoyles and demons and i simply loved her take on these creatures.
the story is told in Conor and Emma's perspectives. their voices alternate throughout the book but it was not difficult nor confusing to follow since each chapter is marked with the name of the person who is speaking.
i really liked the writer's approach in developing the story and on how she focused more on the characters rather than the eponymous Acropolis. this worked very well for me. through her strong characterization, i was swept into the novel's plot from beginning to end.
the action scenes were done just right. they were not lame nor did they go overboard. even Conor and Emma's attraction for each other progressed naturally and was not cheesy at all.
i also liked the surprises and twists especially towards the end.
overall, i had a great time reading this book. i commend the author's imagination and her unique choice of heroes. it made me look at gargoyles in a different and positive light.
This is the story about prejudice. A girl who does not know who she is is suffering from being afraid of everything she feels hostile, and that is not even her own feeling. Emotions as well as power are running rampant until she is capable of discerning difference between her own and someone else's. A boy knows well who he is, but is it true? Sometimes life just appears to be going crazy until one can understand his true purpose, a guardian of the innocent. But the question is how innocent she is. It can be defining moment of overcoming his own preconceived idea. Two different world can be met halfway and create a new world, which is an inspiring message. However, obstacles are seemingly unsurmountable. Doubts in mind keep asking question whether it really is worth trying. The answer is that she has to prove it. Who said that life is easy. The story pains me a great deal because of her otherness that reminds me of my own inadequacy. Nevertheless it is a powerful story overcoming prejudice in their own accord. I would like to have it recommended.
